Do you feel tired? Bored? Unmotivated? Inactive?

I have felt and caught myself from sinking deeper into that space. I have learned to dream again and focus on creating instead. Easier said than done.. right?

I just got off the phone with my mum so I am pretty stoked typing this out. Mother’s are exceptional beings and the older I get, the more I realize how much respect and appreciation should be accorded to women. I hope you take this day to remember and celebrate your mum or mothers around you today.

A few weeks ago three of us were at a grocery store when a friend we hadn’t seen in a while noticed us and came to meet us. She asked if we were okay hugging and soon we were we hugged gigling and happy. The people around us were equally elated witnessing what was going on.

Like the bear, much of the world’s population has been forced into hibernation through harsh Covid19 restrictions and lockdowns. This has been crippling to many businesses, churches, friendships, families, lives, hopes, and so much more! But now, we are like those bears, we are waking up, we are ‘hangry’, and we can smell revival just around the corner!

Change has been a leading concept since the onset of … you know what. The world experienced change socially, culturally, intellectually and in every sphere of experience. At work places, Zoom, Teams, and other networking tools took precedence over in-person meetings. At home, being in the company of family was unrelenting. We all experienced change and like me, you make have a complicated relationship with change.

I often hear people mention that they want to leave a legacy once they die. You have thought about this too, haven’t you? Sometimes you state that you are “not where you want to be in life” and this is ultimately a consideration of your legacy. I find that most think of this in terms of a financial legacy. For them, legacy refers to generational wealth. Generational wealth is excellent and a great priority to have. However, a legacy cannot be solely constricted to money. There is so much more!

Connect is a key word in the church today. Many churches use Connect Groups - small groups that help people connect with God, His Word, other Christians, and a local church. Why? Because when we are left alone, we become more vulnerable to discouragement, deception, heresy, temptation, and loneliness. Covid19 has forced us all into some kind of social isolation or solitary confinement, leading to all kinds of negative results. David speaks of his loneliness in Psalm 142:4“For there is no one who acknowledges me; Refuge has failed me; No one cares for my soul.” Mother Teresa said, “One of the greatest diseases of all is to be nobody to anybody.” Isolation so often leads to devastation.

If I relate the concept of being in tune to selfhood, I refer to a state of understanding yourself and being hyper aware of who you are. You know exactly what is going on or where you are emotionally, intellectually, physically, socially, and spiritually. Tempered with contentment and motivation the understanding of who you are, what value you add, and the stage you are at right now results in an in-tune conceptualization of yourself. Make sense?

Cloning was a big thing a couple of years ago. Even the covid virus got into cloning with the new strains coming about (too soon?). Everyday we experience a new version of ourselves. Last week I felt sick. I was scheduled to travel and what I now realize was anxiety caused me to have a headache, and feel sick. I have not experienced a version of myself that was averse to traveling before.

Today is valentines day. Some of you may have dreaded it and had nightmares featuring “Valentine is coming” by the Kabusa Oriental choir. For others, you may have been looking forward to the possibility of gifts from a secret or known admirer. For those in relationships, you may have had an opportunity to go on a date or do something special together. I used to dislike the commercial aspect of the whole thing.

January has been a long month, no surprise here. However, we made it! I heard Luke Combs’s “Six Feet Apart” on the radio this week and I thought it was an apt song. Like Luke, the conclusion I reached was yes “there will be light after dark”.

My husband and I recently ordered a new sofa and love seat from a furniture store in town. It’s leather, in a beautiful cream colour, with a powered recliner feature in both pieces. We had fun planning and shopping for this set and consider it a reward after years of unanticipated repairs which turned into major renovations on our house.

Have you ever felt the convergence of multiple hammers behind your eyes? Have you felt caged and weighed down by the roles that you ascribed to yourself or have been assigned to you. Have you felt helpless, cold, hungry and alone?

Jesus had the greatest claim to His rights and the greatest power to claim them...but instead..He laid them down and traded them in for a cross. Ironically enough, for the very people that would put Him on that cross.

I have noticed a tendency to base our success on the success of other people. People determine their achievements in life in comparison to their friends, universal standards, and Hollywood. Hence, it is hard to be satisfied or content with the stages we’re in at a given time.

I have vacillated between emotions today. At some point, my blunder and resulting charred food remains pushed me into a banging and throwing tantrum. The new year arrives soon and there is still a lot of uncertainty. If you are a planner, like me, you may be unsure how and what to plan.

The Victory Church people were tithing alot. But grumpy old Grinch – he did not. He hated tithing; and no one new why. So the Grinch started thinking. He made up a plan “I’ll stop them tithing; I know I can.”

Being a part of a connect group is more important today than every before. With the world currently in crisis, being connected to people is vital for our mental health as well as our spiritual health. I want to talk to you about being amazed in the world today. It seems to be a hard thing to do now in this world with a pandemic that is limiting the things we can do. I am amazed at how we seem to go on with our lives even though we have been limited with what we can do.
